This weekend I had no weddings booked. I did slip in a couple meetings and caught up with emails in between activities, but overall I actually had a weekend!
We went to the Beaches Ribfest, enjoyed a bike ride at sunset, had brunch, lunch with my grandpa, dinner with mom and lots of quality time with my husband. It was great!
I almost forgot how good it felt to have a full weekend off!
Last year, I let the bookings dictate my schedule. It was my first full summer working weddings full-time and I wanted to ensure I had enough business. Instead, what happened was I took on way too many weddings, barely enjoyed my summer and ran on fumes by mid wedding season.
The city of Toronto comes alive in the summer. There are festivals every weekend and so many outdoor activities to enjoy. It really flies by when you spend most of your summer weekends working.
Once fall hit and I started receiving more bookings for the following year, I decided to commit to one weekend off every month. For my sanity. For my husband. For the summer.
It was probably the best decision made from my 2015 self!
Admittedly I still probably booked a couple more weddings than I should have this year (it’s hard to turn down amazing couples and weddings!), but at least I have some weekends off to get refueled and inspired again, so I can give 100% to the couples I have booked.
How do you stay refreshed? Do you intentionally book rest weekends for yourself?
