Bali, Indonesia, is a land of beautiful scenery, exotic culture and friendly people. Bali has been on my bucket list for a little while and I was ecstatic to be able to visit last year. It did not disappoint and I recommend it to anyone looking for a mix of relaxation and natural beauty. Bali is the perfect luxury honeymoon experience, in my opinion! Bali Honeymoon – Accommodations and where to stay
Staying in Ubud will allow for an authentic Balinese experience. Then take a taxi to Seminyak to be closer to attractions and beaches. We stayed away from the commercialized Kuta Beach area, but did a day trip there for some surfing. 8-12 days is a good amount of time in Bali, but you can never have enough!
In Ubud, choose accommodations along the main stretch of Monkey Forest Road. Most are very affordable and a stay at a $80-100 place will get you very far. We chose to stay at the beautiful Ubud Bungalow for a comfortable but scenic stay.
Walking out of our accommodations at Ubud Bungalow, we were welcomed by a beautifully manicured and serene property.
In Seminyak, accommodations are plenty and range from budget to namebrand hotel chains. The five star resorts are found on the southern side of the island.
If pampering is what you are looking for, consider staying at one of these luxury resorts in Bali:
Ritz-Carlton, Bali: A brand new property that opened this year, it features a breathtaking cliff top setting
Ayana Resort: Enjoy a private villa in this hilltop resort and get pampered in their award winning spa
Four Seasons, Bali: Relax in one of their oceanfront villas with an authentic Balinese experience

Bali Luxury Honeymoon – Dine in Paradise
Your dollar goes a long way in Bali. Most restaurants are open air and feature jaw dropping surroundings. Here are my top picks for scenic and satiating restaurants.
A newer restaurant to the Seminyak scene, it has quickly taken the city by storm. This open air restaurant features a floating entry way and a featured hut to dine in (make sure to make reservations for this!). Food is fantastic as well.
This hidden gem is a must for couples wanting something unique, focusing on gastronimique cuisine inspired by local fruits. The restaurant features tasting menus while dining among a rainforest-like atmosphere.
The beachside view is what people come here for (unfortunately food is only mediocre). Make a reservation for sunset and be blown away.
Cat poo-cino (Luwak Coffee)
Bali produces one of the most expensive coffees in the world, known as Luwak Coffee. It is made from fermented coffee beans that come from cat poo (it’s not actually a cat, but a mongoose). If you look to try this anywhere else, it will be about $20-30 a cup. Many tours will take you to Luwak Coffee farms to try it out.
Bali Luxury Honeymoon – Excursions and Experiences
Bali offers activities for those who want to relax, seek adventure and see the local culture. I like to do a bit of everything (and am not much a beach bum), so here are my recommendations to experience Bali to the fullest.
Spa day: Splurge on an afternoon at the spa. I opted for a higher end spa experience at Ayana Resort and stayed for the thermal pool and two meals. So good!
Spa day #2: So I like going to the spa. We went on a second spa day, but this time in a more local setting. It was equally beautiful in its own way and boy was it a good price. We hiked the Campuhan ridge walk to arrive at our next spa destination.

The property at Karsa Spa, just breathtaking.
People watch at Potato Head Beach Club: Grab a drink, lounge in the pool or grab a spot on the grass. This place is where all the cool kids go.
Surf in Kuta: Yes, I surfed!
Catch local music in Ubud – I always try to find a local spot in the evening for some live music. It’s always fun to hear Taylor Swift being sung with a Balinese accent 🙂
Local music at Arts Cafe in Ubud.
Take a bike tour: Work off the extra pounds you’ve eaten with a local bike tour. They will take you through the rice fields, to snap photos with the volcano and take you to hidden restaurants on the mountain. They will also show you the locals and see how they live. It was the highlight of my trip.
