Today I am featuring photos from a Chinese wedding at the Westin Prince Hotel Toronto that I had the pleasure of planning and coordinating. Angela and Wayne were fun to work with and organized (the best kind of client!). Though they had their hopes set on an outdoor ceremony, we opted to hold the ceremony indoors after mother nature brought upon some heavy rain clouds. Nonetheless, the wedding was beautiful, fun and full of energy.
If you aren’t familiar with them, Chinese weddings come with their own very specific customs. The groom picks up his bride, after enduring a series of games that involve a bit of embarrassment and some money. The bride and groom get dressed in traditional dress to serve tea to their elders. The couple greets all the guests during the reception with a toast at each table. A lot of modern couples have adapted these customs to fit into with their western style wedding, resulting in a new mix of wedding traditions.
See how Angela and Wayne mixed their Chinese traditions into their Canadian wedding below. If you scroll all the way to the bottom, you can see the day unfold in their wedding highlights video. Enjoy and congrats to A&W again!
